In order to
protect our students and volunteers, E CITY requires background
checks for specific volunteer roles.
Background:
Students in the E CITY programs are participating in a
textbook-based class to learn the basics of small business creation
and operation, the importance of such things as market analysis and
record keeping, the traits of successful entrepreneurs, and more.
The classroom instruction is brought to life when an entrepreneur or
other business person comes in to speak to the students.
Description of Role:
Guest speakers talk to our students from their own experience, and
allow time for the students to ask questions. If you are an
entrepreneur, tell them what you do, how you started, who has been
your inspiration, what your successes and failures have been, what
you consider the keys to success, and the like. If you have an area
of expertise that is relevant to what our students are learning,
they’d like to hear from you, as well. For example, we could use
speakers on the following topics: stock market/investing,
inventions/product development, market research/strategies,
advertising/publicity, record keeping, negotiation, positive
thinking and oral presentation skills.
Time Commitment:
45 minutes, including question and answer time. Programs usually
meet in the late afternoon on weekdays.
