In order to
protect our students and volunteers, E CITY requires background
checks for specific volunteer roles.
Background:
Every student in
E CITY’s programs must create a business plan for a small business
venture. The students will present these plans to their class, and
then six of them will be selected to present in front of a panel of
judges at the final business plan competition. (They are not
required to actually operate the business, but many do).
Description of Role:
Business Plan
Coaches work one-on-one with a student to help him or her get the
business plan into a Power Point presentation and prepare for their
upcoming business plan competition. The students will already have
much of the work done when you arrive, but they need the guidance of
an adult to help get the language right, to double-check the math,
and boost their confidence.
Time Commitment:
2-3 hours each day, for two or three consecutive days during the
last week of our program.
Qualifications:
You must be
college age or older. Comfort in using computers and doing basic
math are essential, as is a general willingness to work with a
teen. We will give you a business plan outline and Power Point
template, in addition to the companionship of the teacher and other
business plan coaches. You do not need to be a business expert to
be effective in this role.
