Since June of 2002, E CITY has sent 26
educators and professionals, including E CITY staff, to NFTE
University’s Certified Entrepreneurship Teacher (CET) training
programs at Carnegie Mellon, Babson, Georgetown, Stanford, and New
York University. NFTE University prepares teachers
and youth work professionals to launch NFTE youth entrepreneurship
programs at their schools or program sites. Through peer teaching,

led sessions, and the creation of a business plan, participants
learn how to teach key concepts in the NFTE curriculum.
They also receive guidance from NFTE staff on implementation
strategies. |

This past June, CETs Darlene Clinkscales and Nicole Lawrence
received scholarships to attend NFTE’s Advanced Teacher Forum in NYC
at NFTE’s headquarters on Wall Street. Rodney Decipeda (CET)
attended the program in June 2004 and Peg Zitzner (CET) in June
2003.
In August, E CITY flew in NFTE CETI (Certified Entrepreneurship Teacher
Instructor) Katerina Zacharia to do an all day Finance Fest workshop
with E CITY’s CETs, apprentices and frequent business plan coaches.
Kat, as the students call her, designed this workshop to help CETs
better understand and teach the new financial chapters of the latest
edition of NFTE’s How to Start & Operate a Small Business
curriculum. Kat, no stranger to Cleveland, taught E CITY BizCamps in
2003 & 2004.
